GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINERS (GCL's)
Geosynthetic clay liners are very low permeability liners comprised of a
geotextile/clay/geotextile composite used with any geotechnical engineering related material so as to
control fluid migration in a man-made project, structure or system. Geosynthetic clay liners are often used
in conjunction with a geomembrane liner to create a double liner system in areas where low permeability
clays are not available. For examples of how geomembranes are used for landfill liners, click here.
